Membership and Operation

The following rules/regulations have been prescribed regarding membership and operation of the Nagoya Kiwanis Club.

  • The Club shall avoid becoming a mere social club, and shall make the utmost of efforts toward performance of community service projects, which constitute the original objective of Kiwanis activities.
  • Concerning membership, those having personal character appropriate for a community service organization as well as the desire and ability to promote the Club’s projects, shall be selected as members. Efforts shall be made to incorporate a large number of youthful and energetic members of all ages and gender into the Club.
  • Regarding the occupational background of its members, the Club shall seek to include persons employed in a diverse range of occupations from both the public and private sectors, and care shall be exercised to prevent the membership from overly-representing certain fields or job categories.
  • In selecting members and operating the Club, careful consideration shall be exercised to prevent the Club’s activities from being improperly influenced by/inappropriately used for specific political, religious, or ideological intentions.
  • Membership shall require the recommendation of two (2) current Club members, and is subject to discussion by the Membership Committee and subsequent approval at the Executive Meeting. In the event that an incoming member is replaced by an outgoing member, the recommendation of the outgoing member will suffice.
